Access and route

From Mastodon Badlands: The Bone Pits contains the paired Ekbab and Iktab encounter plus the Sun Clan Relic drop pool. Follow A Theft of Ivory from the Ardura Caravan through Mastodon Badlands.

  1. Search the Bone Pits. Cross the skeletal fields toward the Blackrib Pit.
  2. Blackrib Pit. Defeat both Ekbab and Iktab in the same area instance so the Mastodon Tusks can drop.
  3. Collect the Mastodon Tusks. Take the quest item and return it to Zarka at the Ardura Caravan.
  4. Sun Clan Relic (Optional). Monsters can randomly drop this optional Ancient Vows quest item.

Quest objectives

  • A Theft of Ivory (Required): Defeat Ekbab and Iktab in the same instance and retrieve the Mastodon Tusks. Landmark: Blackrib Pit. Items: Mastodon Tusks. Next: Return to the Ardura Caravan and give the tusks to Zarka.
  • Ancient Vows (Optional): Find the randomly dropped Sun Clan Relic. Items: Sun Clan Relic. Next: Bring it and the Kabala Clan Relic to the Medallion in Valley of the Titans.

Bosses and NPC availability

  • Ekbab, Ancient Steed (Required boss) at Blackrib Pit. One of two bosses that must die in the same instance for the Mastodon Tusks.
  • Iktab, the Deathlord (Required boss) at Blackrib Pit. One of two bosses that must die in the same instance for the Mastodon Tusks.

Notable items and exits

  • Mastodon Tusks: Paired Ekbab and Iktab encounter. Required quest item for A Theft of Ivory and the Horn of the Vastiri. Quest item; both bosses must be defeated in the same instance.
  • Sun Clan Relic: Random monster drop in The Bone Pits. One of two relics used for Ancient Vows. The source gives no drop chance.
  • Exit to Mastodon Badlands: The only documented area connection and route back to the caravan.

Source differences

  • World map boss label: The world map names only Ekbab, but both Ekbab and Iktab are required in the same instance for the Mastodon Tusks.
