The Grelwood

Access and route

From Clearfell: The Grelwood is the first hub for the Red Vale, the Grim Tangle, and the Lost Catacombs. Start Secrets in the Dark by speaking to Una in Clearfell Encampment.

1. Tree of Souls. Find the Hooded One sealed to the tree and summon Una for the next objective.
2. The Red Vale. Enter the Red Vale and collect the three Runes of Power from its Obelisks of Rust.
3. Return to the Tree of Souls. After Renly forges the Runed Spikes, use all three at the Tree of Souls.
4. The Moving Bramble (Optional). Defeat The Brambleghast for its fixed Level 2 Uncut Skill Gem drop.
5. Areagne's Hut (Optional). Open the Cauldron chest, then defeat Areagne outside the hut for a Level 1 Uncut Support Gem.
6. The Grim Tangle. Continue the main campaign through the ground tunnel after Secrets in the Dark.

Quest objectives

• Secrets in the Dark (Required): Find the Tree of Souls, collect the Red Vale runes, and use the forged Runed Spikes on the tree. Landmark: Tree of Souls. Items: Runes of Power, Runed Spikes. Next: Speak to Una, then continue into the Grim Tangle.
• The Runeseeker (Optional): Return to the Tree of Souls after activating the runestones in the Grim Tangle, Hunting Grounds, and Ogham Farmlands. Landmark: Tree of Souls. Next: Summon Farrow, then enter the Lost Catacombs.

• The Brambleghast (Optional boss) at The Moving Bramble. Optional area boss with a fixed Level 2 Uncut Skill Gem drop.

• Exit to The Grim Tangle: Main campaign route toward Cemetery of the Eternals. Unlock: Complete the Tree of Souls sequence in Secrets in the Dark.
• Exit to Lost Catacombs: Later optional route used by The Runeseeker. Unlock: Advance The Runeseeker through the three runestone locations and return to the Tree of Souls.

• Lost Catacombs connection: The Grelwood article lists Lost Catacombs as a connection, while the structured Area:G1_4 record only links Clearfell, The Red Vale, and The Grim Tangle. The later Runeseeker walkthrough confirms the Lost Catacombs route from the Tree of Souls.
