Encounter

The Arbiter of Ash is fought in the Burning Monolith. The encounter begins with fire projectiles, beams, Flame Seed safe zones, and narrow flame lanes, then adds sword combinations, elemental spheres, arena hazards, and heavy slam sequences. Learn the safe-zone cues before committing to long attacks.

Beams, projectiles, and Bullet Hell

The opening attack set uses a sustained beam, direct fire projectiles, paired projectiles that split into a wider spread, and a dense Bullet Hell pattern.

  • Move sideways as the sustained beam tracks instead of retreating in a straight line.
  • Keep enough open arena space to move through the projectile spread before starting a long animation.
  • Do not rely on Dodge Roll, evasion, or block for the Bullet Hell record. Move through the pattern's open gaps.

Flame Seeds and flame lanes

Flame Seeds create the safe area for Fiery Winds, while another sequence sends flame lanes across most of the arena with a narrow moving gap.

  • When Flame Seeds appear, identify the active safe circle and move inside it before Fiery Winds fills the arena.
  • For the flame-lane sequence, align with the open lane and follow it instead of trying to cross the flames.
  • Version 0.5.4b gives more time to reach the first Flame Seed after the Large Laser and plays the flame-lane voice cue when the skill starts.

Sword phase and elemental spheres

The later attack set adds sword slashes and slams, Fire Blast safe circles, elemental spheres, a pulsing orb, chasm pressure, and diving attacks.

  • Move out of the sword line before the slash lands, then return only after the combination finishes.
  • Use the marked safe circle during Fire Blast variants and watch for a beam or central slash layered over the same mechanic.
  • Do not stand beside an elemental sphere after it activates. The Chaos and Cold Sphere damage bonuses were shortened to 20 seconds in version 0.5.4, but the arena effect still demands immediate movement.
  • Save movement for the pulsing orb, chasm, and diving slam sequences rather than spending every Dodge Roll on basic attacks.

How to access the fight

The first quest encounter and repeat encounters use different Crisis Fragment routes in version 0.5.

  • On the first visit, one Crisis Fragment is already inserted at the Burning Monolith. Find the other two in the Western and Eastern Enigma Chambers.
  • For repeat fights, obtain the Ancient Crisis Fragment from Count Geonor in the Iron Citadel, the Faded Crisis Fragment from Jamanra in the Copper Citadel, and the Weathered Crisis Fragment from Doryani in the Stone Citadel.
  • Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary Calamity Fragments belong to the superseded encounter structure and are not the current access route.
