Encounter
The Trialmaster alternates between a mace form and an unarmed caster form. Mace form uses Sunder, Bloodburst, Cyclone, and an expanding nova from the thrown mace. Unarmed form uses tri-elemental mortars, a tethering Heart, and ricocheting Blood Projectiles. Time Stop can queue three delayed Sunders or Blood Projectiles before the arena resumes.
How to access the fight
Complete a ten-room Trial of Chaos at area level 75 or higher, then use all three Fates at the final door.
- Cowardly Fate drops from Uxmal, the Beastlord in room 10 of a qualifying run.
- Deadly Fate drops from Bahlak, the Sky Seer in room 10 of a qualifying run.
- Victorious Fate drops from Chetza, the Feathered Plague in room 10 of a qualifying run.
- After another ten-room completion, place all three Fates into the door near the Ascension Shrine to open The Trialmaster's Tower.
- The Tribulations selected during the ten trial rooms do not carry into the separate tower encounter.
Mace form
Mace form is the close-range form and contains Sunder, the channeled Bloodburst, Cyclone, and the mace throw that begins the form transition.
- For Sunder, roll as the mace lands. Do not remain in front of the red ground eruption.
- During Time Stop, track all three teleport and slam positions. The delayed Sunders resolve when time resumes.
- Leave the marked Bloodburst area before the Trialmaster pulls the planted mace from the ground.
- Kite Cyclone laterally and keep watching for shockwaves during the moving spin.
- When the mace is embedded, move away from its expanding Physical nova and prepare for the unarmed form.
Unarmed form
Unarmed form replaces the mace attacks with elemental mortars, the Trialmaster's Heart tether, and ricocheting Blood Projectiles.
- Spread the Fire, Cold, and Lightning mortar impacts across open ground instead of stacking them under your next movement path.
- When the Heart tethers you, either destroy it or remain within the tether radius. Breaking the tether deals Physical damage and stuns.
- Follow the Blood Projectile after it reaches a wall because it can bounce, explode, and fork.
- Mace Recall ends the embedded nova and returns the fight to mace form. Reposition before the next Sunder.
Time Stop
Time Stop is an overlay on both forms, not a separate permanent phase.
- In mace form, note each of the three slam origins during the freeze and move away from their delayed Sunder paths.
- In unarmed form, use the freeze to identify the three Blood Projectile origins and leave yourself an open route before time resumes.
- Do not treat the frozen arena as safe downtime. The queued attacks resolve immediately after the stop ends.
Ascendancy and post-fight services
The first qualifying victory grants the final Trial of Chaos Ascendancy reward, and a Trialmaster NPC remains in the arena for passive refunds.
- Use the Ascension device after the victory to claim the Trial of Chaos route's final Ascendancy points.
- Speak to the post-fight Trialmaster NPC when you need to refund allocated Ascendancy passive points.
- Changing Ascendancy still requires refunding every allocated Ascendancy passive before using the Ascension device.
How to reach The Trialmaster
3Access requirements
- Use an area level 75 or higher Inscribed Ultimatum that produces a ten-room trial.
- Complete all ten rooms before inserting the three Fates into the final door.
