For the first campaign run, defeat Xyclucian in the Chimeral Wetlands, take the Chimeral Inscribed Ultimatum to the Temple of Chaos, and complete all four rooms without dying. Later Inscribed Ultimatums can contain 4, 7, or 10 rooms. Read the key before starting: it shows the area level, room count, and whether completing that run can grant more Ascendancy points.
Defeat Xyclucian, the Chimera in the Chimeral Wetlands during the Act 3 campaign to obtain the four-room Chimeral Inscribed Ultimatum. For repeat runs, use a regular Inscribed Ultimatum. Check its tooltip before entering because the room count and Ascendancy reward eligibility are properties of that key.
- The campaign key says Chimeral Inscribed Ultimatum and has four trials.
- A repeat-run key shows its area level and number of trials.
- For Ascendancy progression, the tooltip explicitly says the run can grant additional points.

Travel to the Temple of Chaos, place the Inscribed Ultimatum in the Temple Offering, and enter the opened trial. The campaign key is returned after a failed attempt, so it can be used again. A campaign run cannot be ended early before its fourth room.

The Trialmaster offers three trial modifiers, also called tribulations. Pick one before entering the next room. Every selected modifier remains active for the rest of the run and some modifiers can upgrade to stronger tiers, so judge the combination instead of choosing each modifier in isolation.
- Avoid modifiers that directly disable the build's recovery, projectiles, area, or crowd control.
- Do not stack reduced defences or resistances when later boss rooms are still ahead.
- Account for persistent hazards when choosing the next room reward.

Follow the objective shown for the current room. Trial objectives include slaying all monsters, surviving, implanting Soul Cores, escorting a statue, sacrificing monsters, destroying idols, and defeating a boss. Use the altar after a completed room to take the offered reward and leave when the run permits it, or continue and accept another modifier.
- Read the objective before moving away from the entrance.
- Use lifts and objective interactables only after nearby threats are controlled.
- If a regular run permits cashing out, compare the accumulated rewards with the risk of every remaining room.
AreaKeep every room objective and its completion rule available.

A boss appears at the end of each completed tier: room 4, room 7, and room 10. The possible bosses are Uxmal, the Beastlord, Chetza, the Feathered Plague, and Bahlak, the Sky Seer. Refill at the well before a boss room when one is available, then enter only after the current modifier combination is understood.
- Prepare for a boss after rooms 3, 6, and 9.
- Keep moving during Bahlak and Chetza projectile sequences.
- Avoid standing near Uxmal during its breath and area slam attacks.

Rewards accumulate as the run continues. A regular run can be ended when the interface permits it, letting the player collect the completed-room rewards. Continuing adds another modifier and risks every accumulated reward. A corrupted Inscribed Ultimatum can also require a currency wager; completing its listed trial returns twice the wager, while failure loses both the wager and the accumulated rewards.
- Compare the visible accumulated rewards with the remaining room and boss count.
- For a corrupted key, confirm the exact currency and quantity committed as the wager.
- Continue only when the current modifier combination still leaves a reliable path through the remaining objectives.

After the final boss for the key, use the Ascension device if the key said the run could grant additional Ascendancy points. Trial tiers contain 4, 7, or 10 rooms, but a longer run does not automatically grant points that the character has already earned. Claim the trial rewards before leaving.
- The final boss for the key has been defeated.
- Use the Ascension device when it offers points or an Ascendancy choice.
- Confirm the character's new unspent Ascendancy point total before leaving.

In level 75 or higher ten-room runs, the room 10 boss drops its associated Fate: Cowardly Fate from Uxmal, Victorious Fate from Chetza, or Deadly Fate from Bahlak. Collect one of each across runs, complete another ten-room trial, and place all three in the door after room 10 to enter the Trialmaster encounter.
- The Inscribed Ultimatum has ten rooms and area level 75 or higher.
- Cowardly Fate, Victorious Fate, and Deadly Fate are all available.
- All three fragments are placed in the door after the tenth-room boss.
