Quick answer

Catalysts no longer drop from monsters. In version 0.5.0 they became Genesis Tree rewards. Complete Breaches to collect stored Hiveblood and Lavish Wombgifts, configure the Currency Womb tree, insert a Lavish Wombgift, and spend the displayed Hiveblood to birth its currency result. The published sources do not give an exact chance for a specific Catalyst, so the guide does not claim one.

Before you start

3 points
  • The Atlas unlocked and access to Breach encounters.
  • The Monastery of the Keepers and its Genesis Tree available.
  • At least one Lavish Wombgift and enough stored Hiveblood for the displayed birth cost.
1
Step 1

Complete Breach encounters

Open an Unstable Breach, follow its expanding edge, and kill Hiveborn before the rift collapses. Fill the progress bar to stabilise the Breach, return to its starting point, complete the new challenges, and collect the Breach resources. Current Breaches can provide Hiveblood and Wombgifts.

  • Keep moving with the expanding Breach.
  • Reach 100% and finish the stabilised challenges.
  • Collect Wombgifts while Hiveblood is stored for Genesis Tree crafting.

Step 2

Collect a Lavish Wombgift

Use a Lavish Wombgift for the Currency Womb. The other Wombgifts grow into rings, amulets, belts, or a Breachstone and do not use the Currency Womb. If you are targeting currency rewards, check the item name before spending Hiveblood.

  • Lavish Wombgift: Currency Womb.
  • Ornate Wombgift: Amulet Womb.
  • Banded Wombgift: Belt Womb.
  • Signet Wombgift: Ring Womb.
  • Revelatory Wombgift: Breachstone Womb.

Step 3

Configure the Currency Womb tree

Travel to the Genesis Tree in the Monastery of the Keepers and select the Currency Womb. Allocate its passives for the reward types you want before birthing the Wombgift. Tree allocations change possible results, but the available sources do not publish a complete probability distribution for every currency outcome.

  • Use the Currency Womb, not a jewellery or Breachstone womb.
  • Review the allocated tree before inserting the Wombgift.
  • Do not read a technical modifier weight as an item reward percentage.

Step 4

Birth the currency result

Insert the Lavish Wombgift and spend the Hiveblood shown by the Genesis Tree. The Currency Womb can produce currency rewards, including Catalysts. A Catalyst is not guaranteed unless an in-game tree effect explicitly guarantees the selected result, and the current published source tables do not provide exact per-Catalyst odds.

  • Confirm the displayed Hiveblood cost.
  • Check the Currency Womb allocation before committing.
  • Treat an unwanted result as a valid roll, not a missing Catalyst drop.

Step 5

Use the correct Catalyst family

Normal Catalysts add a matching quality type to compatible jewellery modifiers. Refined Catalysts apply their matching quality type to compatible Jewel modifiers. Open the Catalyst directory before using one so you can compare the affected modifier family and avoid replacing the wrong quality type.

  • Normal Catalyst: jewellery.
  • Refined Catalyst: Jewels.
  • Applying a different Catalyst quality type replaces the existing type.

Important limits

Old Catalyst drop advice is obsolete

The 0.5.0 patch notes state that Catalysts can no longer drop from monsters and are now solely obtained from the Genesis Tree.

Hiveblood is not a normal inventory item

Hiveblood is stored as a Breach resource for Genesis Tree crafting, so do not search the inventory or Currency Exchange for a Hiveblood item stack.

Exact outcome odds are not published

The current sources identify the Currency Womb, Wombgift input, tree effects, and Catalyst acquisition method but do not provide a complete chance table for each possible reward.
