Encounter mechanic

Expedition

Place a connected chain of explosives across a Kalguuran burial site to unearth monsters, remnants, underground areas, and rewards.
Expedition

How it works

An Expedition encounter gives you a limited explosive chain. Each blast excavates markers inside its radius, and remnant modifiers apply from the blast that destroys them to later explosions in the chain. Plan the order before detonating because the same chain controls both difficulty and rewards.

How an Expedition encounter works

The explosive order determines which buried targets are opened and which remnant effects propagate.

Markers

Place explosives so their radii cover the monster, chest, remnant, or underground-area markers you want to excavate.

Remnant order

A remnant affects monsters and chests excavated by its own explosion and every later explosion in the chain.

Detonation

Start the chain at the detonator, then defeat the monsters released by each blast.

Connected systems

Current Expedition progression also connects to Verisium rewards and its own Atlas side tree.

Verisium Remnants

Inscribed Runeshapes select a reward recipe, then waves of empowered monsters must be defeated.

Atlas passives

The Expedition side tree changes encounter frequency, remnants, explosives, monsters, and rewards.

Current league state

The maintained reference records Expedition as temporarily disabled in permanent leagues during Runes of Aldur. Campaign and league-specific appearances are separate from that permanent-league status.
