Encounter

Zarokh, the Temporal is the fourth-floor boss of the Trial of the Sekhemas. The fight combines Physical projectiles, temporal traps, explosive rods, slowing orbs, a rotating beam, and a clock sequence with six hourglasses. Missing the hourglasses now damages Honour and continues into a slower secondary phase instead of ending the trial immediately.

How to reach Zarokh

Use a Djinn Barya that records four floors, complete every floor, and enter the final arena with the Honour, Boons, Afflictions, and Relics remaining from the run.

  • A four-floor run requires a Djinn Barya with area level 75 or higher.
  • Read the Barya before starting. Its tooltip states the floor count and whether the run can award additional Ascendancy points.
  • Honour and all run modifiers carry into the fight, so avoid unnecessary Honour loss on the earlier floors.
  • A qualifying first completion can raise a character from six to eight total Ascendancy points.

Traps, rods, and projectiles

The regular arena pattern layers temporal floor traps, arcing explosive rods, slow Physical orb projectiles, and a larger slowing orb.

  • Do not step on a Temporal Trap. It applies a separate Frozen effect for two seconds and can leave you exposed to the next pattern.
  • Explosive rods detonate on contact. Triggering one with a Dodge Roll does not cause Honour damage, but leave a clear exit before crossing its path.
  • Strafe the slow orb spray and watch the eight mirrors around the arena because they can fire additional orbs.
  • Move out of the Slowing Orb's large bubble before committing to a long attack animation.

Rotating beam and Rewind

Zarokh can channel a rotating beam from the centre and use Rewind effects that return the player to an earlier position.

  • Move around the centre in the same direction as the rotating beam instead of trying to hide in a corner.
  • The skill data records Zarokh's damaging attacks as Physical even when their names and visual effects refer to Lightning.
  • Corners are not safe from the rotating beam. Version 0.1.1c fixed the beam so it can hit targets hiding there.
  • Keep recent movement paths clear because Rewind can return you into a trap, rod, orb, or beam path.

Clock phase and six hourglasses

Zarokh disappears and creates a clock in the centre. Touch the clock, then collect all six hourglasses before one revolution completes while an increasing action-speed slow works against you.

  • Scan the arena before touching the clock so the first route starts toward the most distant hourglasses.
  • Collecting an hourglass slightly reduces the slow. Keep moving immediately instead of stopping after each pickup.
  • The clock skill can be used up to three times during one fight.
  • Since version 0.3.0, missing an hourglass no longer ends the trial immediately. It damages Honour and starts a secondary phase where the hourglasses and slow remain at a much slower rate.
  • The secondary phase is still dangerous when Honour is low, so treat collecting all six as the normal objective.

Unique Relics and challenge rewards

Zarokh drops at least one Unique Relic. Applying one of these Relics at the start of a later four-floor run adds a restriction and changes the reward for defeating Zarokh.

  • The Burden of Leadership hides rooms on the Trial Map and makes Zarokh drop Sekhema's Resolve.
  • The Peacemaker's Draught sets Armour, Evasion, and Energy Shield to zero and makes Zarokh drop an additional Barya.
  • The Desperate Alliance makes Zarokh deal 100% more damage and take 75% less damage, then awards Against the Darkness.
  • The Changing Seasons prevents Honour restoration and awards Sandstorm Visage.
  • The Last Flame sets maximum Honour to 1, requires a level 80 trial, and awards Temporalis.
  • Each applied Unique Relic is destroyed when the trial begins.

Trial of the Sekhemas strategy

Zarokh is the fourth-floor pinnacle boss. During the time-freeze sequence, collect the hourglasses before time expires to avoid Honour damage and the slower secondary phase.

  • Enter with enough movement speed to reach the hourglasses.
  • Keep the center readable during expanding time effects.
  • Missing the hourglasses no longer ends the run immediately; it damages Honour and starts a slower secondary phase.
