Quick answer

Speak to The Hooded One during the campaign or Doryani after the campaign and choose Refund Passives. Select an allocated node that can be removed without disconnecting other allocated nodes, confirm the displayed Gold price, and repeat. Changing the attribute chosen on a travel node costs half the normal refund price. Use the cost calculator before a large respec.

Before you start

5 points
  • Unlock The Hooded One by completing Sorrow Among Stones in Act 1. Doryani provides the service after the campaign.
  • Open the Passive Tree Planner and decide the replacement path before paying Gold.
  • Check the character's current Gold balance and calculate the intended refund cost.
  • If weapon-set points are used, inspect both Weapon Set 1 and Weapon Set 2 allocations.
  • Use the separate Change Ascendancy guide for Ascendancy points or changing the selected Ascendancy.

Step 1

Open Refund Passives

Interact with The Hooded One in a campaign town and choose Refund Passives. After the campaign, Doryani provides the same regular passive respecialisation service. On mouse and keyboard, Alt plus left-click on The Hooded One opens the respec menu directly.

  • Campaign: The Hooded One.
  • After the campaign: Doryani.
  • Mouse and keyboard shortcut at The Hooded One: Alt plus left-click.

Step 2

Plan the replacement path first

Use the passive tree planner to locate the new nodes and count the old nodes that must be removed. A node cannot be refunded if doing so would disconnect another allocated node from a valid path, so work inward from the end of the old branch or temporarily build the new connection before removing the old one.

  • Confirm the destination notable, keystone, or jewel socket.
  • Count every regular node that must be removed.
  • Keep all remaining allocated nodes connected to a valid starting path.
3
Step 3

Check the Gold cost

The regular refund price is determined by character level and applies per removed node. The current table ranges from 15 Gold per point at level 1 to 10,129 Gold at level 100. Open the calculator, enter the character level and number of points, and compare the result with the current Gold balance.

  • Use the character's current level, not the area's level.
  • Multiply the per-point price by the number of regular nodes being removed.
  • Changing only an attribute travel-node choice costs half the normal in-game price.

Step 4

Refund the old nodes

Select a removable allocated node in refund mode and confirm the displayed Gold price. Continue from the outside of the branch toward the character's connected tree. Allocate the recovered points into the planned replacement path after checking attribute and equipment requirements.

  • Start at a removable end node.
  • Read the displayed Gold price before confirming.
  • Recheck Strength, Dexterity, and Intelligence requirements after the change.
Mechanic

Item Level

Keep item level separate from character and attribute requirements.

Step 5

Handle Refund all and weapon-set points correctly

Refund all Passives appears only when the character can afford every allocated regular passive. For a normal point allocated differently in both weapon sets, remove the corresponding allocation from both Weapon Set 1 and Weapon Set 2 to reclaim that one normal passive point. Ascendancy passives use a separate trial flow.

  • Refund all is hidden when the full Gold cost is unaffordable.
  • Check both weapon sets before assuming a passive point is missing.
  • Do not use the regular tree flow to change an Ascendancy.

Important limits

A large respec becomes expensive at high level

The per-point price rises with character level. Count the complete branch and use the calculator before removing many nodes.

Refunding attributes can disable equipment or gems

Changing or removing attribute nodes can make equipped items and socketed gems fail their Strength, Dexterity, or Intelligence requirements. Check the replacement totals before confirming.

Ascendancy respec is separate

Regular passive refunds do not change the selected Ascendancy. Ascendancy points and class changes require the trial-specific process.
