What it does

Gold is an account-bound currency shared by characters in the same league. It is collected automatically and used for vendor purchases, gambling, passive refunds, the Currency Exchange, and asynchronous trade fees.

How Gold works

3 rules
Account-bound
Gold cannot be traded or transferred to another player. Characters in the same league share the balance.
Automatic pickup
Gold within pickup range is collected when the character moves near it or teleports with a skill.
Separate balance
Gold does not occupy inventory slots. The current balance is shown in the inventory.

Where to spend Gold

5 uses
Vendors

Buy equipment and other listed stock. Selling an item to a vendor can also return Gold.

Gambling

Buy an equipment base with an unrevealed rarity. Campaign gambling purchases are limited and gain additional attempts from Unique monster kills.

Passive refunds

Spend Gold to remove allocated passive skills. Changing the chosen attribute on an attribute travel node costs half the normal refund price.

Currency Exchange

Pay a Gold fee when placing and completing orders for supported currency and other stackable items.

Asynchronous trade

Purchasing a listed item through a Merchant's Tab requires an additional Gold fee based on the listing value.

How to get and farm Gold

4 priorities
Kill monsters and open chests

Gold drops throughout the campaign and endgame. Repeat content that the character can clear reliably because completed kills and opened chests provide the normal drop opportunities.

Sell spare equipment

Take unwanted eligible items to a vendor for Gold. Salvaging and disenchanting are different actions that return crafting materials instead of Gold.

Open vendor rules
Do not treat Item Rarity as a simple Gold multiplier

Gold is much less likely to drop from monsters with high Item Rarity. The same drop update halved rare Gold occurrences while doubling those pile sizes, preserving average Gold rather than making rarity a dedicated Gold farm.

Open Item Rarity
Farm in the league where the Gold is needed

Gold is shared by characters in the same league, but it cannot be traded to another player or moved into a different league economy.

Gold drop rules

World and vendors
  • Gold can drop from monsters and chests throughout the game.
  • Some item drops are converted into Gold. Normal items are converted more often than items of higher rarity.
  • No more than 50% of a Unique monster's drops can be Gold.
  • Selling eligible items to a vendor can return Gold. Disenchanting and salvaging produce their own materials instead.

Party rules

Allocation

Gold is assigned to each party member, and every party member receives the same amount. Open party scaling, loot allocation, and respawn rules.
