Quick answer

Defeat the King in the Mists, take the Head of the King to Aoife in Caer Tarth, and select five connected maps for the Rite. Complete the Ritual and map boss in each selected map, collect one effigy piece from each map, attach all five pieces to the effigy at Caer Tarth, and defeat the Bodach. Repeat runs use five Call of the Shadows instead of the five named quest pieces.

Starting point

3 points
  • Caer Tarth revealed on the Atlas by completing Ritual content in the surrounding maps.
  • An Audience with the King earned by sacrificing unspent Tribute after Ritual encounters.
  • A build prepared for a chain in which previously defeated map bosses return in later Rituals.

Step 1

Defeat the King in the Mists

Complete Ritual encounters and sacrifice unspent Tribute until An Audience with the King becomes available. Use it to open the King in the Mists encounter. Defeating him drops the Head of the King, which starts the one-time Rite route.

  • Caer Tarth is visible on the Atlas.
  • An Audience with the King has been obtained and used.
  • The Head of the King was collected after defeating the King in the Mists.

Step 2

Start the Rite at Caer Tarth

Bring the Head of the King to Aoife in Caer Tarth and choose five connected maps. Each choice shows a reward effect. Foretold Bounty adds the specified item to the first Ritual offer in that map. Foretold Proliferation applies its modifier to the other maps after the selected map is completed.

  • Five connected maps have been selected for the Rite.
  • Foretold Bounty choices have been assigned to maps where the offered item matters.
  • Foretold Proliferation choices have been ordered with their later-map effect in mind.

Step 3

Complete every Ritual map

Each selected map contains a Ritual altar with its map boss. Defeat the boss and complete the Ritual to progress and receive an effigy piece. Previously defeated map bosses return in the final Ritual of later maps, so the chain becomes harder as it continues. Completed Rite Rituals also add a reroll to future Rituals in the same chain.

  • The Ritual altar and map boss were completed in all five selected maps.
  • An effigy piece was collected from each completed map.
  • All five pieces remain available for the Caer Tarth effigy.

Step 4

Complete the effigy and defeat the Bodach

Return to Caer Tarth and attach Frayed Cloth, Ragged Cloth, Tangled Torso, Brittle Arm, and Mossy Arm to the effigy. This opens the one-time Bodach encounter. For repeat encounters, obtain five Call of the Shadows from final Ritual altars in later Rites and attach that stack to the effigy instead.

  • All five named quest pieces were attached for the first encounter.
  • The Bodach was defeated as the area owner for the Ritual Atlas point reward.
  • Five Call of the Shadows are ready before attempting a repeat encounter.

Important limits

The chain accumulates bosses

A boss defeated in one Rite map returns in the final Ritual of later maps. Place the maps your build finds hardest earlier in the chain when possible.

Rite Tribute cannot fund another Audience

Tribute from Rituals inside the Rite of the Nameless cannot be sacrificed toward An Audience with the King.

The first and repeat keys differ

The one-time quest encounter uses the five named effigy pieces. Repeat encounters use five Call of the Shadows.
