Azmeri Spirits
Azmeri Spirits are moving encounter wisps. Follow one closely, let it pass through Normal and Magic monsters to build its reward, guide it into an eligible Rare or Unique monster, then kill the Possessed monster.Catalog version 0.5.4d

What Azmeri Spirits does
Current rulesApproach the wisp and keep pace as it flees. Monsters it touches before possession become Spirit-Influenced and make the Spirit more rewarding when killed. The Spirit then tries to possess a Rare or Unique monster. Kill that Possessed target for the encounter reward. If you fall too far behind, the Spirit can dissipate. A possessed Rare monster always drops a Rare item, and possessed monsters can also drop the Idol associated with their Spirit.
- Stay close to the fleeing Spirit
- Approaching an Azmeri Spirit makes it flee through the area. Community documentation reports that it accelerates while a player is close, slows at range, and disappears if left too far away. The official encounter description confirms that a Spirit dissipates when allowed to get away for too long.
- Use Normal and Magic monsters to improve the reward
- A Spirit can touch monsters along its path before it possesses its final target. Those monsters become Spirit-Influenced. Killing them makes the Spirit more rewarding, so clearing them before finishing the possessed target is the core reward loop.
- Guide the Spirit into a Rare or Unique monster
- The Spirit attempts to possess an eligible Rare or Unique monster. Community documentation reports that possession restores the target to full Life. If no eligible target remains, the Spirit can disappear without a possession.
- Different Spirits can share a target
- A monster can carry more than one different Azmeri Spirit. Since 0.5.0b Hotfix 11, a Spirit cannot possess a Rogue Exile that is already possessed by the same Spirit type.
- Wild, Vivid, and Primal are attribute families
- Wild Spirits are Bear, Boar, and Ox and can convert rewards toward Strength items. Vivid Spirits are Cat, Stag, and Wolf and can convert rewards toward Dexterity items. Primal Spirits are Owl, Primate, and Serpent and can convert rewards toward Intelligence items. The conversion probability is not published.
- Spring Hare and Cunning Fox change the encounter
- The documented Sacred Spirits are Spring Hare and Cunning Fox. Spring Hare can revive a slain possessed monster with another Spirit effect and a special reward rule. Cunning Fox can raise the rarity of influenced monsters and can turn its possessed Rare target into a random Unique Map Boss.
- Released Spirits keep their power
- Since 0.5.0, a Spirit released from a possessed monster keeps the power it previously gained. It can also empower other Spirits released from that monster.
- Atlas passives can redirect the Spirit
- Atlas nodes can let Spirits possess Map Bosses or Strongboxes, prefer Ritual Circles, interact with Shrines or Delirium Fog, move to Rogue Exiles, appear in Grass Summoning Circles, gain more empowerment, or release again after a possessed monster dies.
- Hilda and Doryani can rewrite the target rules
- Hilda's Will of the Draíocht prevents Spirits from possessing Rare monsters, while Call of Spirits makes possessed Unique monsters release Spirits. Doryani's Dam the River delays possession until maximum empowerment.
- Several patch changes define the current encounter
- Possessed Rare monsters have guaranteed a Rare item since 0.2.0g. The campaign hunt begins in the Hunting Grounds and later areas rather than the Grelwood, and campaign Spirits retain their minimap icons. The of Spirits map modifier now rolls 70% to 100% increased Spirit chance. On the Wind now offers a choice between 50% increased Spirit movement speed and preventing Spirits from dematerialising while no players are nearby.
- Spirit of the Abyss is unresolved
- Current PoE2DB data exposes a Spirit of the Abyss record, but the maintained community wiki documents only 11 Spirit and Idol outcomes and does not establish an acquisition method or a corresponding Idol for it. Treat the record as unresolved until a verifiable player-facing outcome is documented.
