What Maim does

Current rules

Use Maim when you need both movement control and an Evasion penalty. Its 30% movement penalty is a Slow, so Slow Magnitude and the target's reduced Slow effect apply to that part. Its separate 15% reduced Evasion Rating penalty is not increased by Slow Magnitude.

Maim has two effects
A Maimed target has 30% slower movement speed and 15% reduced Evasion Rating.
The normal duration is 4 seconds
Maim lasts for 4 seconds unless the source specifies another duration.
Only movement is slowed
Maim does not slow attack, cast, or other action speed. It affects movement speed and separately reduces Evasion Rating.
Slow Magnitude does not scale Evasion loss
Slow Magnitude scales the movement Slow. It does not scale Maim's 15% reduced Evasion Rating because that is a separate magnitude.
The strongest Maim applies
Multiple Maim debuffs do not add together unless a source explicitly says otherwise. The strongest applicable Maim controls the effect.

02
Defence

15% reduced Evasion Rating. This can make the target easier to hit but does not make hits guaranteed.

Limits and exceptions

4 rules
  • Maim is not Hinder. Both slow movement, but Maim also reduces Evasion Rating.
  • Maim does not stop movement and does not make a target Immobilised.
  • Maim does not prevent Evasion. Pin prevents Evasion while the target is Pinned.
  • Immunity to Maim prevents Maim specifically, not every movement Slow.
