What Smoke Cloud does
Current rulesEnemies standing in a Smoke Cloud are Blinded. Blind causes 20% less Accuracy Rating and 20% less Evasion Rating and normally lasts 4 seconds unless another source specifies a different duration. Gloomform creates a Smoke Cloud around its wearer while the wearer is stationary. The Shroud Walker monster modifier creates one cloud at the monster's departure point and another at its arrival point whenever it performs its periodic teleport.
- The default radius is 2 metres
- Smoke Clouds have a radius of 2 metres unless the creating skill, item, or modifier gives another value. The area is centred where the cloud is created. Gloomform's current internal radius value corresponds to the same 2 metre default.
- Enemies inside are Blinded
- A Smoke Cloud applies Blind to enemies standing in it. Blind gives the affected character 20% less Accuracy Rating and 20% less Evasion Rating. This makes its attacks less likely to hit and also makes it easier to hit, but it does not guarantee either result.
- Blind normally lasts 4 seconds
- The Blind keyword has a base duration of 4 seconds unless otherwise specified. The Smoke Cloud definition says that enemies standing in the cloud are Blinded, but it does not publish a separate cloud duration or a special post-exit duration. Do not treat the cloud itself as a four-second effect unless its source says so.
- Gloomform requires you to remain stationary
- Gloomform gives its wearer a Smoke Cloud only while stationary. Moving means the stationary condition is no longer met. Teleportation such as Blink does not itself count as movement under the current Movement definition, although another action before or after the teleport can still make the character non-stationary.
- The owner determines who counts as an enemy
- The keyword affects enemies of the cloud's source. A player-created cloud such as Gloomform's Blinds hostile monsters. A Shroud Walker's cloud is created by the monster, so the player and the player's allies are the enemies that can be Blinded inside it.
- Shroud Walker creates two clouds
- A monster with Shroud Walker periodically teleports to an enemy it can see. It creates a Smoke Cloud where it leaves and another where it arrives, so stepping away from only the arrival cloud may still place the character near the departure cloud.

Limits and exceptions
6 rules- A Smoke Cloud is not invisibility and does not prevent enemies from targeting its creator.
- The keyword does not state that the cloud deals damage.
- Blind changes Accuracy and Evasion rather than applying a fixed chance to miss.
- Blind has no practical hit-chance effect for an attack that cannot miss or against a target that cannot evade.
- The default 2 metre radius can be replaced when a source explicitly specifies another radius.
- The cloud definition does not publish a separate duration for the cloud itself.
