What Blind does

Current rules

Blind works in both directions. Blinding an enemy lowers its Accuracy, helping you Evade its Attacks, and lowers its Evasion, helping your Attacks hit it. The values are less multipliers to the Ratings, not a flat 20 percentage point change to chance to hit or Evade. Blind also reduces the target's light radius to its minimum.

Blind lowers Accuracy Rating by 20%
The target has 20% less Accuracy Rating. For example, 1,000 Accuracy becomes 800 before the rest of the hit calculation.
Blind lowers Evasion Rating by 20%
The target also has 20% less Evasion Rating. Blinding an evasive enemy can therefore make your Attacks more likely to hit.
Blind has two practical uses
On an enemy, lower Accuracy is defensive while lower Evasion is offensive. On the player, both penalties work against the player.
The normal duration is 4 seconds
Blind lasts for 4 seconds unless the source specifies another duration.
Blind Effect scales both Rating penalties
Modifiers to Blind Effect scale the Accuracy and Evasion penalties. They do not turn Blind into a fixed chance to miss.
Light radius is reduced separately
A Blinded target has its light radius lowered to the minimum value in addition to the two Rating penalties.

Limits and exceptions

6 rules
  • Blind does not directly subtract 20 percentage points from chance to hit or chance to Evade.
  • Blind affects Attacks through Accuracy and Evasion. It does not make Spells miss unless the Spell has a rule that uses Accuracy.
  • Multiple ordinary Blind debuffs do not add their penalties together. The strongest same-type debuff applies.
  • Cannot be Blinded prevents Blind. Unaffected by Blind would allow the debuff to be present without applying its effects.
  • Current Resolute Technique only states that Accuracy Rating is doubled and Critical Hits cannot be dealt. It does not state Blind immunity.
  • Current Unwavering Stance prevents Light Stun and disables Dodge Roll and Sprint. It does not state Blind immunity.
