Corruption outcomes

Check the correct outcome table, prepare the item before the irreversible step, and distinguish Vaal Orb targets from special corruption applicators.

Quick answer

Finish normal modifications first, open the corruption profile for the exact target type, and accept that the result can be harmful or leave the item unchanged. A corrupted item cannot normally be modified again unless a mechanic explicitly accepts corrupted targets.

What you need

3 points
  • A finished item whose normal modifiers, quality, and sockets no longer need ordinary crafting.
  • The exact corruption profile for the target type.
  • A replacement plan if the outcome damages or destroys the intended item state.
1
Step 1

Finish normal crafting first

Corruption is not a normal middle step. Complete modifier work, numeric rolls, quality, and sockets before using the corruption applicator unless the target has a documented exception.

  • Confirm that no ordinary currency action still needs to be applied.
  • Keep another usable item when the target is difficult to replace.
Mechanic

Quality

Check quality caps and exceptional methods before corruption.

2
Step 2

Open the exact target profile

Equipment, jewels, flasks, charms, gems, maps, strongboxes, and other targets do not all share the same outcome list. Use the corruption reference page or the item-specific section instead of applying one generic list.

  • Match the item class before reading the outcome rows.
  • Open the enchantment table when a Vaal enchantment is a possible result.
3
Step 3

Use supported prediction or constraint tools

Hinekora's Lock can foresee the next Currency result used on an item. Omen of Corruption makes the next Vaal Orb result in a change, subject to the exact target rules shown on the corruption page.

  • Do not modify the item after applying Hinekora's Lock unless you intend to clear the foreseen result.
  • Read the target-specific notes before assuming that an Omen removes every no-change case.
4
Step 4

Use the applicator that matches the target

Vaal Orb is the main corruption currency, but some target types use a different process. Tablets use the Ancient Infuser corruption profile, and Vaal Cultivation Orb operates on already corrupted Unique items under its own rules.

  • Do not treat an exclusion from Vaal Orb as proof that the target cannot be corrupted.
  • Open the special process page when the item uses another applicator.
Mechanic

Cultivation

Review the separate process for corrupted Unique items.

Important limits

The result is irreversible

A harmful outcome is still a valid outcome. Read the full target profile before spending the item or currency.

Outcome lists are not probability tables

Do not infer equal chances from a list unless a source supplies weights or probabilities for that exact target.
