What Divinity does

Current rules

Divinity works like a skill-cost resource. It inherently regenerates at 25% per second. Immaculate Adherence converts 100% of maximum Energy Shield to maximum Divinity, prevents the character from having Energy Shield, and makes skills cost Divinity instead of Mana or Life. Its maximum Divinity roll can increase the pool, while every equipped Corrupted item applies 20% reduced maximum Divinity. This player resource is not the same mechanic as a Fragment of Divinity on the ground.

Divinity pays skill costs
Divinity can be spent for skills in the same general way that Mana can. Immaculate Adherence changes skills that would cost Mana or Life so that they cost Divinity instead. The amulet does not say that reservations, damage taken, or other losses become Divinity costs.
It regenerates inherently
The Divinity keyword states that Divinity inherently regenerates at a rate of 25% per second. This is the resource's built-in refill rule, separate from Mana regeneration, Life regeneration, leech, and recovery granted by other effects.
Maximum Energy Shield becomes maximum Divinity
Immaculate Adherence converts 100% of maximum Energy Shield to maximum Divinity and also says that the character cannot have Energy Shield. Energy Shield invested for this setup supplies the Divinity pool rather than a defensive Energy Shield layer.
Corrupted equipment reduces the pool
Each Corrupted item equipped applies 20% reduced maximum Divinity. Count the Corrupted equipment in the active setup when comparing the pool shown by the character with the pool expected from Energy Shield and the amulet's increased maximum Divinity roll.
The boss buff is encounter-specific
The Arbiter of Divinity fight also uses Orbs of Divinity and a Divinity buff. That temporary encounter interaction is documented on the boss page and should not be treated as proof that every character has the Immaculate Adherence resource.
A Fragment of Divinity is a different object
Fragment of Divinity is a temporary ground object created by The Ordained and consumed by Righteous Descent. It does not refill the Divinity resource described here and should not be counted as part of a character's maximum Divinity pool.

Arbiter encounter

Orbs of Divinity in the Arbiter of Divinity arena grant the fight's Divinity buff. Use the boss guide for that phase rather than applying the player-resource rules from Immaculate Adherence.

Fragment of Divinity

This similarly named ground object belongs to The Ordained and Righteous Descent. It empowers that skill when consumed but does not act as spendable Divinity.

Limits and exceptions

5 rules
  • Divinity is not Mana, Life, Spirit, or Energy Shield after the conversion.
  • Immaculate Adherence does not say that Spirit reservations are paid with Divinity.
  • The amulet removes the converted Energy Shield from the character's defensive pool.
  • Equipped Corrupted items reduce maximum Divinity through the amulet's explicit modifier.
  • Fragment of Divinity and the Arbiter arena buff are separate contexts with their own rules.
