Partying

A Path of Exile 2 party can contain up to six online players. Couch co-op supports two players on one device. Adding players increases monster life and item quantity, but not item rarity.

Choose one of three loot allocation modes before playing. Party size increases item quantity by up to 51% with six players, while Unique monster life increases by 100% for each additional player.

Loot allocation

3 modes

Free for All

Items can be picked up by any party member immediately.

Short Allocation

An allocated item is reserved briefly, then becomes available to the whole party.

Permanent Allocation

An allocated item remains reserved for its assigned party member while they stay in the area.

Special loot rules

Important exceptions
  1. GoldGold is assigned to each party member. Every member receives the same amount.
  2. WaystonesParty size does not increase Waystone drop chance. A dropped Waystone is allocated to the map creator.
  3. Item rarityThe item rarity modifiers of the player credited with the kill apply to that kill.

Shared effects

Nearby party members
  1. Flasks and charmsNearby party members gain flask and charm charges when a monster is killed.
  2. Auras and similar effectsWhen the same effect has different strengths, only the highest value applies.
  3. SlowSlow effects have 10% less effect for each additional party member, up to 50% less effect.

Deaths and respawns

Campaign and maps

Campaign revival

Reviving a party member takes 2.5 seconds, plus 1.5 seconds for each previous death in that instance.

Campaign checkpoint

Respawn at Checkpoint moves the whole party to a new instance. It is available while the game is paused or when all other party members are dead.

Maps and bosses

Each party member receives map respawn attempts. For a map boss, the map owner can respawn the party together.

Experience is a separate calculation

No imported PoE1 formula

Level penalty

The character and monster level gap can reduce experience from a kill. Use the current PoE2 calculator for that multiplier.

Character experience

Check the exact experience required for every level and the amount remaining to the next level.

Death loss

Map Device death loss is also separate. The current checked PoE2 Partying source does not publish a party experience distribution formula.
