Stun Threshold
Stun Threshold is the target-side reference used to determine Light Stun chance and Heavy Stun buildup. Raising your own threshold makes incoming Stuns less likely, while lowering an enemy's threshold makes that enemy easier to Stun.Catalog version 0.5.4d

What Stun Threshold does
Current rulesA player's base Stun Threshold equals maximum Life. A Hit with stun-effective damage equal to the current threshold has 100% base Light Stun chance, and lower damage scales linearly. The current minimum successful Light Stun chance is 15%. For enemies, a lower threshold increases Heavy Stun buildup from the same Hit, so increased Stun Buildup and reduced enemy Stun Threshold improve different sides of the calculation.
- Player base Stun Threshold equals maximum Life
- A player's base Stun Threshold is equal to maximum Life before increased, reduced, additional or replacement effects modify the value.
- Equal damage gives 100% base Light Stun chance
- A Hit whose stun-effective damage equals or exceeds the target's current Stun Threshold has 100% base Light Stun chance before immunity and other applicable modifiers.
- Lower damage scales linearly
- When the stun-effective damage is below the current threshold, the base Light Stun chance scales down in direct proportion. A Hit equal to 20% of the threshold starts from 20% base chance.
- Current Light Stun chances below 15% are discarded
- Version 0.3.0 established that current Light Stun chances below 15% are treated as 0%. The older Player Stun Threshold tooltip still present in one database record says 10%, so this page follows the newer official rule and the current general Stun keyword.
- Enemy threshold changes buildup received
- Lowering an enemy's Stun Threshold means less Stun buildup is needed to reach the same percentage of its Heavy Stun bar. Raising monster threshold through a map modifier makes the same Hits less effective.
- Stun Buildup and threshold are separate modifiers
- Increased Stun Buildup scales the buildup created by the attacker. Reduced enemy Stun Threshold changes the target reference. They improve the same goal through separate modifier scopes.
- Additional threshold can be based on another defence
- Some modifiers add Stun Threshold based on maximum Energy Shield, item Armour or another stat. These add to the threshold unless the wording says the threshold is based on a replacement value.
- Replacement wording changes the base
- An effect that says Stun Threshold is based on Energy Shield instead of Life changes the value used as the base. It is not the same as gaining additional threshold based on Energy Shield.

Limits and exceptions
7 rules- Stun Threshold does not reduce damage taken from the Hit.
- Stun Threshold is not Stun Recovery.
- Increased Stun Buildup does not directly raise or lower the target's Stun Threshold.
- The 15% minimum applies to Light Stun chance, not the percentage shown on an enemy's Heavy Stun bar.
- Players normally receive Heavy Stun buildup only while a mechanic explicitly permits it.
- Additional threshold based on another defence is not automatically a replacement for the Life-based threshold.
- The isolated Player Stun Threshold database tooltip still says 10%, but current official and general Stun rules use 15%.
