Staged
Staged Skills gain discrete stages and use the current stage count to change an effect. The way stages are gained, their maximum, what each stage improves, and when they are spent or removed are defined by the individual Skill.Catalog version 0.5.4d

What Staged does
Current rulesRead every Staged Skill as its own counter. Flameblast and Supercharged Slam gain stages while channelling, Wind Dancer and Arctic Armour gain defensive stages over time, Sigil skills gain power by tracking Mana spent in their area, and Whirlwinds gain stages when another Whirlwind would overlap them. A stage from one Skill cannot be transferred to another, and stored stages do not carry from one area to the next.
- Staged is a Skill tag
- The Staged tag identifies Skills that gain or use stages. It does not grant a universal damage bonus, duration, maximum, or method of gaining stages.
- The Skill defines stage gain
- A Skill can gain stages passively, while channelling, by spending Mana in an area, or through another skill-specific event. Do not assume that Attack Speed, Cast Speed, or Duration changes every stage-gain method.
- The Skill defines stage payoff
- A stage can increase damage, area, Evasion, defensive retaliation, Buff strength, number of Aftershocks, or another stated property. Only the lines that refer to stages scale with the stage count.
- Maximum stages are skill-specific
- Each Skill states or internally defines its own maximum. Quality can raise the maximum for some Skills, while other Skills use quality to change gain rate, damage per stage, or another property.
- Stages belong to one Skill instance
- Stages gained for a Skill apply to that instance of the Skill. They do not become a shared character resource and cannot be spent by an unrelated Staged Skill.
- Stages do not cross areas
- Stored stages do not carry from one area to another. Entering a new area starts the relevant Skill state again.
- Consumption and release differ
- Some Skills release their effect at the current stage count, some expend one stage when a condition occurs, and some consume every stage at once. Read the exact removal rule instead of treating all staged effects as a charged cast.
- Channelling and Staged are separate tags
- Several Staged Skills gain stages while Channelling, but Wind Dancer and Arctic Armour gain stages without being channelled. A modifier that requires Channelling does not apply merely because a Skill is Staged.
Ways current Skills gain and use stages

6 rules- Staged does not define one universal maximum stage count.
- A stage from one Skill cannot be used by another Skill.
- Stages do not carry into another area.
- Not every Staged Skill is channelled.
- Increasing maximum stages does not automatically make a Skill gain stages faster.
- Only effects that explicitly scale per stage use the current stage count.
