Apply Azmeri wisps to a Rare Beast and kill it during the wisp duration. The gem becomes an account-bound Companion gem for that Beast. The captured Beast retains up to four ordinary monster modifiers, chosen at random when more than four are present. Essence and Azmeri wisp modifiers are not retained.

Companions
Companions are powerful Reviving Minions with a separate global limit. By default, you can have only one Companion summoned at a time, regardless of its type or the number of creatures represented by its skill.Catalog version 0.5.4d
No direct 0.5 patch change is linked to this page. The displayed values are current for catalog version 0.5.4d.
What Companions does
Current rulesCheck four separate values: the Companion limit, the number of creatures the skill creates, its Spirit reservation, and whether the Companion can take damage. Wolf Pack and Cackling Companions each create several creatures but count as one Companion. Trusted Kinship and Yriel's Fostering allow two Companions of different types, while Sylvan's Effigy allows any number of different types. Wild Protector explicitly does not use a Companion slot.
- Are Companions Minions?
- Yes. A Companion is a specialised Reviving Minion. Companion-specific modifiers are narrower than Minion modifiers, while eligible Minion and Ally modifiers can also affect a Companion.
- How many Companions can you have?
- The default global limit is one Companion of any type. This is one total Companion, not one of each type. A skill that creates a pack can still define the entire pack as one Companion for this limit.
- Extra Companion slots require different types
- Trusted Kinship and Yriel's Fostering each say that you can have two Companions of different types. Sylvan's Effigy allows any number of Companions of different types. These effects increase the type limit but do not permit duplicate Companions of the same type unless another rule explicitly says so.
- Some Companions ignore the limit
- Wild Protector explicitly does not count toward the Companion limit. It remains a Companion for modifiers and supports that apply to Companions, subject to their other conditions.
- Can Companions die?
- A damageable Companion can be killed and follows Reviving Minion reforming rules. Mist Raven is undamageable and Manifest Weapon is immortal, so ordinary death, damage sharing, and revive-speed effects do not apply to them in the same way. Rhoa Mount explicitly says the unmounted Rhoa can be damaged.
- Companion limit and Spirit reservation are separate
- Having an available Companion slot does not pay a skill's reservation. Wolf Pack reserves 60 Spirit and Rhoa Mount reserves 100 Spirit before efficiency. A captured Tamed Beast instead uses a percentage reservation based on the Beast and its retained modifiers.
- Player stats do not transfer automatically
- Companions use Minion stats and do not inherit the player's ordinary offence or defence. A source must explicitly transfer a stat. Sturdy Ally grants your Strength, Manifest Weapon scales from your Strength and Dexterity, and Tangmazu's Thurible derives Companion Evasion and Deflection from yours.
- Presence is an additional condition
- Wording such as while your Companion is in your Presence requires an eligible Companion to be inside the character's Presence area. Owning or reserving the Companion skill is not enough when the Companion is outside that area or dead.
- Commands are separate skills
- Some Companions have a Command ability in addition to their ordinary behaviour. Azmerian Wolf can be Commanded to howl and Mist Raven can be Commanded to dive. Command cost, cooldown, targeting, and effects belong to that Command component.
