Mechanic

Persistent

A Persistent skill is toggled in the Skills Panel and remains active until disabled or until its reservation or other requirement can no longer be met. Persistent Buffs, Meta skills, and Reviving Minions often reserve Spirit.

What Persistent does

Current rules

Activate the skill in the Skills Panel, verify free Spirit and support reservation, then check whether it runs continuously or also has a manual component. Weapon Sets can have different available Spirit and active Persistent skills.

Skills Panel activation
Persistent skills are enabled and disabled from the Skills Panel instead of being used as ordinary one-shot skills. Most do not need a skill-bar slot after activation.
Reservation requirement
The full reservation must be available when the skill is activated. Support Gems can add reservation, and an unaffordable supported setup cannot be activated until enough resource is free.
Weapon Set state
Available Spirit and active Persistent skills can differ between Weapon Sets because weapons, passives, and skill activation can change with the set.
Manual components
Some Persistent skills also grant an active component, such as an Invocation or Banner action. The Persistent part is toggled in the panel, while the active component still uses the skill bar.
Reviving Minions
Persistent Minion skills can reserve Spirit and automatically summon Reviving Minions. Their death and revival rules are Minion mechanics, not a new manual cast of the Persistent skill.
Support predicate
A support that requires a skill you use yourself cannot support a purely Persistent component unless the support or the skill explicitly provides a compatible manual component.

Limits and exceptions

4 rules
  • Persistent does not mean permanent under every condition. Losing required reservation, changing Weapon Sets, or disabling the skill can remove the effect.
  • Support reservation is part of the activation requirement and can make a previously affordable skill unavailable.
  • A manual component does not make every effect of the Persistent skill count as a skill you use yourself.
  • Persistent Minions and temporary Minions use different cost, death, duration, and revival rules.
