What Spirit does

Current rules

Characters begin with 0 Spirit. The campaign grants 100 permanent maximum Spirit: 30 from the Gembloom Skull in Act 1, 30 from the Gemrot Skull in Act 3, and 40 from the Gemcrust Skull in Interlude 3. Sceptres, equipment modifiers, Unique items, passive skills, and Ascendancy passives can provide more.

Reservation
Spirit-powered skills reserve available Spirit while active and are configured in the Skills Panel.
Weapon sets
Each Weapon Set can have a different available Spirit total because equipment, Weapon Set Passive Skills, and active Persistent Skills can differ between sets.
Campaign rewards
Use all three campaign skulls for 100 permanent maximum Spirit: Gembloom Skull grants 30, Gemrot Skull grants 30, and Gemcrust Skull grants 40.
Equipment and passive sources
Sceptres have a base Spirit value and can roll increased Spirit. Body Armours and Amulets can roll flat Spirit, while specific Unique items, passive skills, and Ascendancy passives can add Spirit or change how it is calculated.
Granted persistent skills
Persistent buffs or permanent minions granted directly by an item or Ascendancy passive do not reserve Spirit unless the granting effect says otherwise.

Limits and exceptions

3 rules
  • Available Spirit can change when weapon sets swap.
  • Reservation Efficiency changes the amount reserved, not the maximum Spirit stat itself.
  • An effect that removes or prevents equipment Spirit can override ordinary item gains.
