Storm

Storm is a gem tag for long-duration weather-based Skills with special interactions. A Storm can rain repeated impacts, empower your Spells, apply a weather Debuff, consume ailments, move through an area, or combine several of those behaviours.

What Storm does

Current rules

Treat Storm as an eligibility tag, not a shared damage formula. Firestorm consumes Elemental Infusions to change its storm, Icestorm consumes Chill and Freeze for improved bolts, Thunderstorm applies Drenched and Overgrows Plants, Mana Tempest empowers Mana-costing Spells while draining Mana, and Tornado absorbs Elemental Ground. Storm-specific Supports can move eligible Storms or change their Limit, but only when the target Skill and its own restrictions match.

Storm is a Skill tag
Storm identifies long-duration weather-based Skills that can receive Storm-specific interactions. It does not determine whether the Skill is an Attack, Spell, Hit, damage over time, or a particular element.
Every Storm defines its own weather effect
Impact frequency, radius, duration, damage type, target limit, and secondary effects belong to the individual Skill. There is no universal Storm duration or impact rate.
Active limits are skill-specific
Some Storm Skills state a maximum number active at once. Creating another effect at its Limit normally removes the oldest, while a Skill without a modifiable Limit does not benefit from a modifier that adds to Storm Skill Limit.
Duration controls persistence
Duration and Skill Effect Duration can change how long a duration-based Storm remains. They do not automatically change impact frequency, damage per impact, Mana drain, or a separate active Limit.
Sustained Storms hit on their own cadence
Firestorm, Icestorm, and Thunderstorm repeat effects while active. Their per-target Hit restrictions and impact timing are properties of those Skills, not a global Storm rule.
Storm supports can reposition effects
Advancing Storm makes supported Storms appear at the user and move toward the target. Morgana's Tempest increases Limit and moves the Storm quickly, but makes it less effective and cannot support Triggered Skills.
Storm names can be misleading
Elemental Storm is currently tagged Orb rather than Storm and does not gain a Storm Limit bonus. Gathering Storm is a Channelling Travel Attack without the Storm tag.
Some transformed skills carry Storm
Apocalypse and Archon of Chayula include Storm among their current tags, but their Glory requirements, transformations, triggered effects, and damage rules remain specific to those Skills.

Storm Skills and Storm-specific modifiers

7 cases
01
Firestorm

Rains Fire impacts and can consume Fire, Cold, and Lightning Infusions. Each Infusion changes a distinct part of the resulting storm.

Related: Firestorm, Fire, Elemental Infusions
02
Icestorm

Consumes Chill and Freeze on enemies in front of you to improve a number of its Cold bolts. It has its own storm radius, duration, impact cadence, and active Limit.

Related: Icestorm, Chill, Freeze
03
Thunderstorm

Creates lightning strikes and rain. Enemies become Drenched, making them easier to Shock and Freeze, while Plants inside become Overgrown.

Related: Thunderstorm, Shock, Freeze, Plant
04
Mana Tempest

Empowers your Mana-costing Spells while you remain inside, drains Mana continuously, and drains faster as you spend more. It ends when you leave or run out of Mana.

Related: Mana Tempest, Spell, Buff
06
Storm supports

Advancing Storm changes where supported Storms appear and how they travel. Morgana's Tempest also raises Limit, but carries an effectiveness penalty and excludes Triggered Skills.
